| Week of August 30, 2010 6th Grade Sixth grade will continue with their Properties and Importance of Water unit. This week they will find out about the structure of the water molecule and the special property of polarity that makes this molecule do some amazing things. They will conduct several quick activities that demonstrate the properties about which they are learning. There will be at least one homework assignment. 7th Grade Seventh grade students will continue their first science unit: Astronomy. The students will first learn about optical, reflecting, and radio telescopes. Then they will learn a little about exploring space using satellites and space probes. There will be at least one homework assignment. 8th Grade Eighth grade students will continue their unit: Properties of Matter. They will learn about converting measurement units within the metric system. They will then begin their first chemistry unit activity, "Measuring the Mass and Volume of Water," in which they will calculate the density of water. There will be a couple of homework assignments. |
