Week of April 30, 2012




6th Grade:
This week 6th grade students will be conducting and experiment to learn how the heating and cooling rates of difference surfaces compare to each other.  They will construct a graph, and write a formal analysis and conclusion for this experiment.  They will continue to learn about other factors that cause the uneven heating of Earth's surface.

7th Grade:
This week 7th graders will continue the minerals identification lab that they began last week.  They will use hardness, color, luster, cleavage/fracture, streak, magnetism, and acid reactivity tests to identify unknown minerals.  This lab will conclude by Friday.  They will have a test on minerals the following Wednesday.

6th, 7th & 8th Science


8th Grade:
The 8th grade students will continue their studies on genetics by learning about genetic mutations, recessive genetic disorders, and sex-linked disorders.  They will then read about advances in genetics.  Students will have several homework assignments this week.  They will have a test on the genetics unit the following Tuesday.
