Children
Welcome the Preschool Program

The Preschool Program is a place where young children discover creative and nurturing experiences. Our Preschool fosters a life-long quest and love for learning, building a strong foundation for social, emotional, academic, physical and spiritual growth.

Every child is unique, with his/her own interests and learning styles. We provide our children the space and opportunity to interact and play in a meaningful environment. We are a place where children can construct new ideas and discover the world around them. They are inspired to think, reason, question and experiment through play and hands-on activities.

Some of the objectives of the Franklin Phonetic Primary Preschool program are:
  • to provide a setting in which your child feels safe and happy
  • to use your child's interests and experiences as the basis for learning and activities
  • to help your child develop a love for learning; a love that is deep, wide, and ever-growing
  • to provide opportunities for your child to learn academic skills through day-to-day activities and through interactive experiences with peers and adults
  • to encourage your child's love for books and foster the pre-reading skills appropriate to his/her stage of development
  • to provide opportunities for your child to make discoveries and to use them in learning, developing the building blocks for the study of science
  • to develop your child's problem-solving abilities, developing the skills  in the study of mathematics
  • to encourage your child's creativity and artistic expression
  • to encourage your child to ask questions, which will be answered sincerely and honestly
  • to develop your child's social skills, in both one-on-one and larger group settings
  • to encourage your child to work independently and with his or her peers
  • to provide learning materials and equipment, as well caring and committed educators, that encourages your child to gain the positive experiences out of school and themselves
  • to help your child become independent and gain a strong, healthy self-esteem and sense of self

Our teacher plans, implements, and evaluates the curriculum so your child receives the best opportunities for high quality developmental and academic excellence.

Preschool begins at 7:45am and goes until 3:00pm.
Extra care will be provided from 3:00pm–5:30pm for an additional cost.

Language Arts

Franklin Phonetic Preschool teachers use spalding phonics and phonograms in a child-led, play-based learning environment. The teacher uses developmentally appropriate instruction to prepare your preschooler for K-6 here at Franklin Phonetic. The classroom is aligned to the "Fun with Phonograms" products which have been in existence since 1986 and were copyrighted and created by career educator, certified reading specialist, and school principal, Cindy Franklin. They have been used by schools and home-school parents with great results.

In 1996, Franklin Phonetic Primary School was formed in Prescott Valley. This school uses "Fun with Phonograms" products exclusively in the primary grades. The school has earned an Excelling rating for the past 13 years and has earned top scores on academic measures of student achievement. By learning 72 phonograms and 28 spelling rules, 85% of all words in the English language can be decoded and spelled correctly.

Small classes: It has been proven that students learn faster and perform better in smaller classes. A class size of fewer than 20 students often results in more individual attention, increased participation, and better communication between the instructor and students.
